Fancy red and Fancy Purplish red diamond are very rare. Should a diamond be given a Fancy Red grade it means that the diamond has a color of pure red.
Some red diamonds contain modifying colors for example fancy brownish red and fancy orangy red. These too are actually very scarce although definitely not as scarce as Fancy Red or Purplish red. Various other red diamonds have reddish overtones like Fancy Reddish Brown. These diamonds are not quite as scarce and for this reason their price is significantly less in comparison with the other reds.
