Getting Rid Of Moss in the Garden
Gardens are a space that some people love, spending hours and hours pruning the bushes, planting new flowers and watering, wafting for the buds to flourish into beautiful flowers. Any proud gardener will know that moss between your paving slabs is a bit of a nightmare, and completely ruins the look of all the hard work you have put in to make your garden look pretty. But what do you do to stop it ruining the garden you have put some much time and care into? It can give the garden a timeless and elegant look, but when it starts to get on paths and steps it can be a slipping danger so it is best to remove it as soon as you can. Particularly in the British weather, when wet it can become really slippery and could cause a danger, especially to older people.
Try scraping it away with a knife, or spraying it with a steam cleaner. This will only remove the visible moss so if you want to try and stop the plant from growing again then mix half and half solution of water and bleach, and spray it over the area. Allow it to settle there for fifteen minutes to half an hour, and then scrub with a hard brush to remove any residue. Hose the mixture off the step or pathway with clean water to ensure there is no bleach left on the surface.
Be careful to cover any plants that you have as exposing them to this bleachy mix could kill them off, which would undo a lot of the hard work that you have previously done in your garden. Be careful to wear old clothes and protective eyewear as the solution is also an irritant to the skin and might spray up onto you if you are not dressed carefully.
If the moss grows back then go over the area again, with either a pressure washer or more solution,.
